Children need to understand the rules and know what to expect. Whether the daily schedule is flexible and open or structured and planned, the best classrooms clearly communicate expectations to everyone.
Children come to school to learn, and the most effective way for them to learn is through play! Every classroom activity or teacher-led lesson needs to be engaging to capture a child’s interest. In preschool, where attention spans can be brief, offering a diverse range of activities is crucial.
A teacher’s role is to assess a child's developmental stage and guide them along their learning journey. By asking open-ended, thoughtful questions, teachers encourage children to reflect on their actions and deepen their understanding. The conversations we have with children are just as vital to their growth as the activities they engage in.
Teachers are responsible for the physical, social, and emotional well-being of their students. Whether it’s offering a comforting hug when a child is sad, providing a snack when they’re hungry, giving advice to solve a problem, or assisting in the bathroom, a teacher’s role is to be there and respond with care whenever needed.
